“Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks,” says Jesus in Matthew 12:37.
“The power of life and death is in the tongue,” reads Proverbs 18:21.
When a friend wanted me to commiserate with her about our former Pastor, I finally said, “I don’t want to say anything against her. She and I may be in ministry together one day.” Immediately the friend said, “Yes, met too, I may work with her in ministry again.”
It was such a relief for the friend’s attempts to stop. I didn’t want to deal with the hard things that we went through at the church by doing more harm. God orchestrated a reconciliation or understanding between the Pastor and I much later. It happened to be Christmastime and we talked about how Jesus is the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).
