Homemade Hummus Recipe

“And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head.”  Mark 14:3

  • 1 15.5 Ounce Can Chickpeas
  • 1/4 Cup Tahini Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Clove Garlic, Minced
  • 1/2 Teaspoon each of Sea Salt, Cumin, and Red Pepper
  • Olive (optional)

Rinse chickpeas really well in a colander, add to saucepan and cover with spring water, bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes.  Drain and reserve water in a bowl.  Combine chickpeas with all the other ingredients in food processor. Mix till combined. Add a tablespoon or two of the reserved water, if you want hummus to be softer. Garnish with black olive and olive oil. Serve with bread of your choice.
