Simon A Cyrenian

“Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.”

Luke 23:26

Why was Simon of Cyrene chosen out of the crowd to bear Jesus’ cross with Him?  Was Simon’s heart breaking for Jesus?  Was he leaning forward with his arms out ready to catch Jesus if He fell?  Was he traveling with his family?  Were their hearts breaking?  Was Simon in Jerusalem for the Passover Holy Day? He is memorialized forever like Mary and her alabaster box serving our Lord Jesus Christ.

Cyrene, Libya is in North Africa and rather than look for brown skinned people in the Bible, let’s celebrate unity, that we’re all sons of Noah, sons of Abraham.

“And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man.

“Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

“The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”   Genesis 7:21, 8:16 and 9:16
